Fears in Life:

  • Going bald

  • Not being liked

  • Growing old without feeling like I’ve achieved something

  • Honeycomb (don’t ask!)

  • Missing family and friends

  • Nelson’s chat

Reasons for doing this:

  • Escaping the 9-5 rat race

  • Leaving ‘society’ for a while

  • Fulfilling my urge to travel before any serious commitments

  • Wanting to ‘find myself’

  • Seeing the world at ‘bike pace’

  • Raising money for a fantastic charity

  • Experiencing different cultures and religions

  • Completing a great adventure

  • [Insert cliché here]

I wish I could say I had dreamed of doing this all my life. I also wish I could say this wasn’t a case of Nelson getting me drunk and convincing me it was a good idea.  But I can’t. However, I have always wanted to go travelling, and the endless list of reasons for wanting to do that are also applicable to cycling around the world. We weren’t built to sit around in offices, drinking Espressos and wasting out lives staring at computers [please read the rest of our website]; the world has a lot to offer and I want to see it all.

Quotes to live by:

  • “Whatever’s meant to be, will be.” Me, 2011

  • “If  a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing properly. ” Tony Inkersole, Granddad.

  • “Worrying is like a rocking chair; it gives you something to do, but it doesn’t get you anywhere.” Van Wilder, Party Liason

  • When the spirits are low, when the day appears dark, when work becomes monotonous, when hope hardly seems worth having, just mount a bicycle and go out for a spin down the road, without thought on anything but the ride you are taking.  Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
